TWO RIVERS HISTORY

The facility was designed and built by the Robert Oxnard Family. Development began in 1929 as a fashionable rustic private resort retreat for his family and friends. The only acces to the property has always been via a tressel beneath the adjoining railroad track and over a bridge across the Feather River.
The rustic cabins and lodge appear similar today to what they were in the 1930's. Mr. Oxnard eventually sold his property and it changed hands several times before it was purchased by the Schwendinger family in 1974.

What Makes Two Rivers Stand Out?

We envisioned an opportunity to re-design the facility to accommodate a Soccer Training program coordinated with a true "camp" experience in this one-of-a-kind environment. We believe that this beautiful natural piece of geography provides a great setting for young players to learn new soccer skills and perfect their abilities. The natural setting inspires everyone....coaches, counselors, and campers!

The game of soccer itself offers youth a kind of freedom of expression not found in most sports. The self expression is less stifled by game time interruptions or the fear of not living up to expectations which is so often evident in many athletic activities. Our goal from the beginning has always been to provide a healthy balance between challenging young campers to do their best and having a good measure of enjoyment/fun In other words, creating the proper atmosphere in this mountain wilderness setting.

We have always attempted to recruit a group of first class advanced level coaches with a background in education. Thus, nurturing the best teaching/learning approach for dealing with young athletes. At the same time, we recognize the importance of engaging serious minded college student counselors to look after the campers at all times when they are off the fields. This includes guidance during activity periods, meal times, bed times, and those times when campers are afforded the opportunity to relax and gain an appreciation for the natural setting.

Combining outstanding Soccer Training with the pleasures of True Camping is really the "Best of Two Worlds."
